This coming Saturday please arrive before 7:45AM
Try to carpool as parking will be tight.
I would like some athletes to come early at 7AM to help man the donation jar (they will be our “official thankers” I will ask for volunteers at Tuesday’s practice.
All of our swimmers can participate, but we will have some as anchors on the land and some will be in the water. Coaches Lucky and Larry will assign you to your groups when you arrive. Any donation checks should be made out to Orange County Special Olympics.
Area Games are on Saturday August 24th at the YMCA aquatic center. Swimmers will be swimming the same events that they participated in during the county games. Everyone needs to be at the pool by 8:15am. YOU MUST SWIM IN AREA GAMES TO BE ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE AT THE STATE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS.
Here is the link to the area games relays for the MOW swim team. (please remember these are subject to change)
Great fun was had at Lucky’s pool party. Some photo highlights are below.
Gregg Dedic swam the lake before the party. He now has well over 300 crossings and he is the only Special Olympian in Lucky’s Lake Swim 100 K club. Lucky swam the lake with his son Maximus and his pet duck named Duck. Duck was so happy he could crap (which he did) having so many folks join him for a swim in the pool. Turns out that Duck was very upset that he didn’t get picked on a team for water volleyball. Next year Duck, next year. Everyone enjoyed the doughnuts (some of us enjoyed the doughnuts too much) thanks to our volunteers for bringing them in! Nobody won Lucky’s Says this year so Michael Sarra retains his world championship title. Michael has decided not to swim this year only to participate in the parties (I tried this at work – not go to work just collect the pay checks – seemed like a good idea, but the technique must only be successful with S.O. swim teams)

All the cool people played water volleyball. Sorry Duck you are cool too. You can play next year after you grow some arms.
- Duck wants to have a challenge match with Gregg in the lake.
Duck looks like he was having a great time; even though he didn’t get to play. We’ll for sure come next year to see his debut. Congrats to Greg for being in the Lucky’s Lake Swim 100 K club!
